Fishers regulates loading and standing through Chapter 72 and the Chapter 75 prohibited-parking schedules. The truck-parking rule in § 72.34 expressly excepts active loading or unloading and designated loading areas, while fire lanes under § 72.15 must be kept clear and signed.
The City of Fishers handles loading and unloading within its general stopping, standing, and parking framework in Chapter 72 of the Code of Ordinances, together with the prohibited-parking schedules in Chapter 75. The heavy-vehicle restriction in § 72.34 (Truck Parking Restrictions) makes clear that the bar on commercial vehicles, trucks, trailers, and semitrailers of 10,000 pounds or more in residential districts does not apply when the vehicle is engaged in loading or unloading, or when it is in a designated industrial zone or designated loading area. This recognizes legitimate delivery and move-in/move-out activity while still preventing long-term storage in neighborhoods. Designated no-parking and restricted areas, including any posted loading or standing zones, are established through the Chapter 75 schedules and applicable signage; § 72.13 separately prohibits stopping or standing in locations such as crosswalks, intersections, and in front of driveways even briefly. Fire lanes are governed by § 72.15 (Parking in Fire Lanes), which requires "No Parking Fire Lane" signs meeting the Indiana Manual of Uniform Traffic Control Devices to be installed no less than every 30 feet, and allows the Fire Chief to designate hazardous portions as tow-away zones. Drivers loading or unloading should do so promptly and avoid fire lanes, crosswalks, and posted restricted areas.
Standing or parking in a posted loading zone, fire lane, crosswalk, or other restricted area beyond what loading/unloading allows, or obstructing a fire lane, can result in a citation and, in marked tow-away fire-lane areas, immediate towing.
