Fishers regulates on-street parking through Chapter 72 and the Chapter 75 parking schedules. Stopping, standing, or parking is prohibited on sidewalks, in front of driveways, within intersections, on crosswalks, and within set distances of hydrants and intersections. Indiana Code requires parking parallel within 12 inches of the curb.
On-street parking in the City of Fishers is governed by Chapter 72 (Stopping, Standing and Parking) and the prohibited-parking schedules in Chapter 75. Under § 72.13, stopping, standing, or parking is prohibited in specified places, including on a sidewalk, in front of or immediately opposite a public or private driveway, within an intersection, within 15 feet of a fire hydrant, on a crosswalk, and within 20 feet of any intersection or of a crosswalk at an intersection. Additional restrictions apply within 30 feet upon the approach to any flashing beacon, stop sign, or traffic-control signal located at the side of a roadway, and within 20 feet of the driveway entrance to any fire station. The city's neighborhood parking guidance also reminds residents that vehicles may not block driveways or sidewalks or park across from a driveway on the opposite side of a street. Because Fishers is in Indiana, the state's roadway-parking rule applies as well: under Indiana Code, a vehicle parked along a curbed roadway must be parked with its right-hand wheels parallel to and within twelve inches of the right-hand curb, with angle parking allowed only where authorized by local ordinance. Residents report parking concerns to the Fishers Police non-emergency line.
Parking on a sidewalk, blocking a driveway, parking within 15 feet of a hydrant or 20 feet of an intersection or crosswalk, or parking against the flow of traffic away from the curb can result in a citation under Chapter 72 and the state parking statute.
