Fishers regulates recreational vehicles, boats, and trailers on the public right-of-way. Under Chapter 72, these vehicles may not be parked on a public right-of-way within the city continuously for 72 hours or longer, and once relocated may not return to the right-of-way for at least 30 days.
The City of Fishers addresses recreational vehicles, boats, and towable trailers in its Code of Ordinances, Chapter 72 (Stopping, Standing and Parking). The code provides that recreational vehicles and/or trailers which may be pulled by vehicles, including towable objects such as boats and other motor vehicles, shall not be parked on a public right-of-way located within the corporate limits of the city continuously for 72 hours or longer. After being moved, such a vehicle or trailer may not be returned to the public right-of-way for a period of not less than 30 days from the date it was relocated. The owner of a recreational vehicle or trailer also may not park or store it in a manner that creates a dangerous or unsafe condition on the property or in the public right-of-way. There is a separate accommodation for visitors: non-resident recreational vehicles may be parked in a front yard, a driveway, or in the right-of-way (unless otherwise prohibited), including connection to appropriate utilities, for a period not to exceed ten days per month. Storage of RVs and boats on private residential lots is further governed by the city's Unified Development Ordinance zoning standards.
Parking an RV, boat, or trailer on the public right-of-way beyond 72 continuous hours, returning it within 30 days of relocation, exceeding the 10-day-per-month non-resident allowance, or creating an unsafe condition can result in a parking citation and possible towing.
