Every required loading or unloading berth must measure at least 12 feet by 35 feet, with 14 feet of overhead clearance, and must sit on the same or an adjoining premises as the facility it serves, inside or outside a building. Table K sets the ratio of required spaces to building size by use category: retail and vehicle sales operations, plus accessory uses within hotels or office buildings, need one berth per 20,000 square feet of gross floor area or fraction thereof; standalone office buildings and hotels need only one berth per 75,000 square feet; and industrial, manufacturing, warehouse and distribution uses need one berth per 40,000 square feet.

Loading areas must be adequately screened from residentially zoned property, subject to Development Services Director approval.
