Pomona, CA Parking Rules: Loading Zones (2026)

Sec. 58-201 authorizes the city traffic engineer to locate loading zones and passenger loading zones and to post signs or markings stating the hours the zone and the Vehicle Code apply. Loading zones are marked with yellow paint on the curb surface: yellow means no stopping, standing or parking for any purpose except loading or unloading, capped at three minutes for passengers and 20 minutes for freight. Passenger loading zones are marked with white paint on top of the curb: white means no stopping, standing or parking except to load or unload passengers, or to drop mail in an adjacent mailbox, capped at three minutes. Restrictions in front of a hotel, residence or mailbox apply at all times of any day; restrictions in front of a theater apply at all times the theater is not closed.

Sec. 58-202 defines how far the loading privilege extends: permission to stop for loading or unloading passengers also covers loading personal baggage, but never beyond the time necessary and never more than three minutes total, and the section directs enforcement to accommodate genuine loading and unloading without permitting abuse of the privilege. Sec. 58-203 gives the traffic engineer separate authority to designate bus stops, bus stands, taxicab stands and other common-carrier stands, each marked with its own official traffic control device.

These loading-zone rules sit inside Chapter 58, Article IV, Division 2 of the Pomona City Code (Code 1959 §§ 32-14.0 through 32-14.2), the division that establishes Pomona's onstreet stopping, standing and parking scheme enforced by the police department and public works.
