Pomona, CA Parking Rules: Overnight Parking (2026)

Sec. 58-302(b), adopted by Ordinance No. 4315 in 2022, provides that no person shall park or leave standing on any public street, alley or right-of-way in the city any large vehicle for any duration of time between the hours of 8:00 p.m. and 7:00 a.m. The overnight window applies on top of, not instead of, the division's separate four-consecutive-hour daytime cap and its outright ban on large-vehicle parking in city lots and parks, so a large vehicle that is legal on the street at 3:00 p.m. still has to be gone by 8:00 p.m. "Large vehicle" is defined in Sec. 58-301 to include anything over 19 feet long, 80 inches wide or 72 inches tall, plus buses, RVs, campers, travel trailers, house cars, utility trailers, semitrailers and any boat not connected to a trailer, so the overnight ban reaches ordinary oversized trucks and commuter vehicles as well as RVs and boats.

Sec. 58-303 carves out overnight exceptions: a large vehicle actively making a pickup or delivery at an adjacent building, an ambulance or public-safety vehicle responding to a call, a government vehicle on official business, a vehicle undergoing up to eight hours of sudden emergency repairs, and any vehicle displaying a valid Sec. 58-304 exception permit. Sec. 58-306 gives the chief of police express tow-away authority for any large vehicle parked in violation of the division, citing Vehicle Code § 22651(n), the state provision letting a peace officer remove a vehicle parked in violation of a local ordinance restricting or prohibiting stopping, parking or standing. Signs giving notice of the restriction must be posted at the city limits and other locations the city engineer selects under Sec. 58-305.
