Section 11-2177, "Standing for Loading Only," sets distinct time limits across Raleigh's several loading-zone types, all keyed to official Traffic Schedules. Passenger loading and unloading zones cap standing at ten minutes and are for actively loading or unloading passengers only, per Traffic Schedule No. 16. , Monday through Saturday, per Traffic Schedule No. 17. Commercial-vehicle-only loading zones, designated in Traffic Schedule No. 24, restrict use to vehicles displaying a business name, logo, or permanent markings at least two inches tall, or a valid commercial plate, and cap active loading or unloading at sixty minutes; parking there in violation subjects the vehicle to citation at the officer's discretion.

Downtown's musician loading zones, confined to the area bounded by Peace, South, East and West Streets and Glenwood Avenue (Traffic Schedule No. daily and cap stops at thirty minutes for vehicles with hazards on. Food truck loading zones under Traffic Schedule No. 1(a). Mixed-Use Loading Zones (Traffic Schedule No. 29) and Curbside Pickup Zones (Traffic Schedule No. 30) each cap standing at thirty minutes, the latter reserved for retail goods ordered by phone or online. A narrow exemption lets mobile television transmission vehicles use a loading zone for up to one hour solely to prepare a live broadcast.
