Baton Rouge prohibits any vehicle from remaining on a public street for more than 9 consecutive hours within a 24-hour window running from 6 AM to 6 AM the following day. Vehicles left longer are subject to citation and towing.
Title 11 (Traffic Code), Chapter 28 (Parking), Β§ 11:423 of the Code of Ordinances states that no person shall permit a vehicle to remain parked on any street for longer than 9 hours of any 24-hour period beginning at 6 AM of one day to 6 AM of the next. The vehicle may only be parked on-street if parking is otherwise permitted under Title 11. Certain designated zones carry additional time restrictions. Section 11:424 addresses removal of disabled or abandoned vehicles that block traffic or violate parking limits. The Baton Rouge Police Department and city parking enforcement officers enforce street parking rules. Vehicles in violation may be cited, booted, or towed.
Overtime parking citation under Β§ 11:423 typically carries a fine; repeat violations or vehicles blocking traffic can result in towing at owner's expense plus impound fees.
