Daly City has no citywide overnight parking ban for ordinary passenger vehicles, but oversized and commercial vehicles are barred from all streets 5 p.m. to 7 a.m. without a permit, and designated Commercial Vehicle Parking Zones operate as permit-only zones during those same overnight hours every day of the year.
Standard passenger cars may park overnight on Daly City streets subject to the 72-hour limit (Section 10.32.200), posted street-sweeping windows, and residential preferential permit zones near transit hubs (Chapter 10.40). The overnight restrictions target large vehicles: Section 10.32.150 prohibits oversized vehicles (22 feet or longer, 6 feet 6 inches or wider, 10,000 lb GVWR or more, trailers, dump trucks, and similar) from parking on any street between 5 p.m. and 7 a.m. Under Section 10.32.155(B)(3), as amended by Ordinance 1467, the city's Commercial Vehicle Parking Zones (Zone 1 Bayshore, Zone 2 Civic Center, Zones 3A/3B Serramonte) are designated for permit holders between 5 p.m. and 7 a.m. every day, including weekends and holidays; during the day those zones operate as two-hour limit parking 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday. A permit does not guarantee a space (Section 10.32.155(B)(4)).
Oversized vehicles parked overnight on any street face a $260 citation (Sec. 10.32.150). A commercial vehicle parked in a Commercial Vehicle Parking Zone without a city permit is cited $110, and a non-commercial vehicle parked in a posted commercial-only zone is cited $40 (Sec. 10.32.155).
