Daly City Municipal Code Section 10.32.150, as amended by Ordinance 1467 (2023), bans parking any oversized vehicle - expressly including boats, mobile homes, house trailers and recreational vehicles - on any city street between 5 p.m. and 7 a.m. The fine is $260, and RVs and boats are not eligible for the commercial parking permit that exempts work vehicles.
On July 10, 2023 the City Council adopted Ordinance No. 1467 amending Sections 10.32.150 and 10.32.155 of the Daly City Municipal Code. Section 10.32.150(A) prohibits parking any oversized vehicle on any street between 5 p.m. and 7 a.m. An oversized vehicle includes any single vehicle or combination twenty-two feet or more in length or six feet six inches or more in width, any vehicle with more than two axles or more than two wheels on a single axle, any trailer as defined in California Vehicle Code Section 630 (wheels attached or detached), and any vehicle with a manufacturer's gross vehicle weight rating of ten thousand pounds or more. The ordinance defines vehicle broadly to include automobiles, boats, mobile homes, house trailers, recreational vehicles and similar trailers, whether operable or inoperable. Under Section 10.32.155(B)(2), commercial preferential parking permits expressly do not cover recreational vehicles, boats, private towing trailers, roofing asphalt kettles, hazardous materials tank trucks or horse trailers, so there is no permit path for overnight RV or boat storage on Daly City streets.
The Citation Fees Schedule lists the oversized vehicle violation (Section 10.32.150) at $260 per citation. Each night parked in violation can draw a new citation, and vehicles left over 72 hours can also be processed as abandoned under Section 10.32.200.
