DeKalb County does not have a blanket overnight street parking ban. Vehicles may park on most unincorporated DeKalb residential streets overnight provided they are registered, operable, and not creating a traffic hazard. Parking against the direction of travel is prohibited under OCGA §40-6-200. Commercial vehicles over 10,000 lbs GVWR are prohibited in residential zones overnight (10 PM to 6 AM) under DeKalb Code Chapter 14. Certain streets have signed restrictions for street sweeping or snow operations. HOA-maintained private streets may impose their own overnight rules. Vehicles parked on the same street continuously for more than 72 hours may be tagged as abandoned under OCGA §40-11-1.
