Ridgefield, CT Parking Rules: Overnight Parking (2026)

Town Code § 340-7, amended 11-4-1985, provides that all-night parking on the streets, highways and municipal parking lots of the Town is forbidden. Motor vehicles parked overnight in violation may be removed on order of the Police Department, and the owner must pay the necessary towing fee in addition to a fine. The ban sits within Chapter 340, Vehicles and Traffic, adopted in 1974, alongside the Town's general 25 mile-per-hour speed limit on non-state roads under § 340-3 and the Main Street time-limited parking set by the Ridgefield Parking Authority under § 340-5.

Enforcement of parking violations, including the overnight ban, runs through the administrative citation and hearing process in § 340-12: a mailed notice gives the vehicle's operator or registered owner 10 days to demand a hearing before a parking violations hearing officer, and failing to respond within that window results in a default assessment that can be filed as a civil judgment with the Superior Court clerk. An unpaid judgment carries an $8 entry fee and can be appealed within 30 days by filing a petition to reopen with its own entry fee.
