San Marcos, TX Parking Rules: Overnight Parking (2026)

City Code Sec. 82.187(a) makes it unlawful to leave, stand, or park a large motor vehicle (over 22 feet long or 7 feet tall, including RVs), travel trailer, personal watercraft, or boat on a public street in a single-family residential zoning district for more than 24 hours, whether or not it's hitched to a tow vehicle. Ordinary passenger cars and pickups aren't covered by this specific cap, but oversized vehicles and trailers left overnight repeatedly cross the 24-hour line and become citable. A separate residential parking permit program (Sec. 82.189) lets the city council impose tighter block-by-block overnight restrictions on petition from residents.
