Pasco limits oversized and heavy vehicles by weight and zone. Under PMC 10.65.020, vehicles with a maximum gross weight of 14,000 pounds or more cannot park in residential zones except for deliveries, and may not stand more than two hours on commercial or industrial streets. Recreational equipment storage is also restricted to side and rear yards in R-S districts.
Oversized vehicles in Pasco are governed mainly by the weight thresholds in PMC 10.65.020 (Parking for certain purposes prohibited). Any vehicle with a maximum gross weight of 14,000 pounds or more is barred from parking anywhere on or off the street in a residential zone, except while making deliveries under PMC 10.80.020. In commercial and industrial zones, no truck tractor, trailer, semi-trailer or 14,000-lb-or-heavier vehicle may park, stand or stop on a City street for more than two hours. 'Maximum gross weight' is the scale weight of the vehicle plus the maximum load declared by the licensee. Large recreational equipment - boats, motor homes, fifth wheels and the like - is separately controlled: it cannot be stored on the street except for 72-hour loading windows, and on private lots it must be kept in side or rear yards in the R-S-20, R-S-12 and R-S-1 districts (PMC 25.185.140). The general 14-day street-parking cap in PMC 10.65.030 also applies to oversized vehicles and trailers. Together these rules keep large trucks, trailers and oversized recreational equipment off residential streets and out of long-term curb storage. Enforcement is by the Pasco Police Department and Code Division.
An oversized or 14,000-lb-plus vehicle parked in a residential zone (other than for delivery), standing over two hours on a commercial/industrial street, or oversized recreational equipment stored in a front yard within an R-S district, violates PMC 10.65.020 / 25.185.140. Enforcement is by citation; report to Pasco Police (509-628-0333).
