Pasco allows street parking on most public streets but caps how long a vehicle may stay in one place. Under PMC 10.65.030 no vehicle may remain parked on any street or municipal property longer than 14 days. Posted signs may impose shorter limits, and Chapter 10.70 designates streets where parking is restricted or time-limited.
General street parking in Pasco is governed by Title 10. PMC 10.65.030 (Extended unauthorized parking prohibited) states that no person shall park a vehicle on any street or other municipal property for a period longer than 14 days, unless an official posted sign provides a shorter time. The code's broad definition of 'vehicle' covers any motor vehicle, car, truck, van, tractor, bus, trailer (including boat trailer), recreational vehicle, semi-trailer, motorcycle, or boat/vessel, whether licensed or unlicensed and motorized or non-motorized. A vehicle in violation may be tagged and is subject to removal 72 hours after the tag is attached. Beyond the 14-day rule, Chapter 10.70 PMC establishes schedules of streets where parking is prohibited at all times (Schedule III, PMC 10.70.080) or time-limited (Schedule VI, PMC 10.70.100). PMC 10.60.010 prohibits parking across designated stall lines. Parking infractions are processed as civil infractions; the lowest tier (Class One) carries a presumptive penalty set by the City Council, with an added penalty for late response.
Leaving a vehicle parked on a street more than 14 days (or beyond a shorter posted limit), or parking across stall lines (PMC 10.60.010), is a parking infraction. Tagged vehicles may be towed 72 hours after tagging. Fines are set by City Council; a late response adds a further monetary penalty.
