NRH allows recreational vehicles and boats to be stored on residential lots only behind the front building line or in a side yard screened from the street. Parking RVs and boats in the front yard or driveway for extended periods is prohibited.
Under the NRH Zoning Ordinance and Code of Ordinances Chapter 54, recreational vehicles (RVs), travel trailers, boats, boat trailers, utility trailers, and similar equipment must be stored on residential property behind the front building line of the principal dwelling. Short-term parking in the driveway for active loading, unloading, cleaning, or maintenance is allowed for up to 48 hours. Storage longer than 48 hours must be on a paved or gravel surface in the side or rear yard, and equipment taller than 6 feet must be screened from the public street by a privacy fence or landscaping. RVs cannot be used as permanent or temporary dwellings or for occupancy within city limits, with narrow exceptions for short-term visitors up to 14 days per year. Connection to electrical, water, or sewer utilities for occupancy is prohibited. Commercial-size vehicles (buses, semi-tractors, large cargo trucks) have stricter rules and generally cannot be stored on residential property at all. HOAs in neighborhoods like Woodland Oaks and Hometown may impose stricter rules on RV and boat storage through their CCRs.
Violations are Class C misdemeanors with fines up to 500 dollars per day after written notice. Repeated offenses may result in impoundment and towing under Texas Transportation Code Chapter 683.
