Richmond's Unified Development Code allows one recreational vehicle on a residential lot in non-required side or rear yards, with no residential occupancy permitted.
Under the City of Richmond Unified Development Code, the owner of a residential lot may park or store one recreational vehicle within any non-required side or rear yard area. The UDC expressly prohibits the use of that recreational vehicle for living or residential purposes while parked on the lot. Front-yard or required-yard storage is not allowed. Boats and similar trailers are typically governed by the same residential accessory-use rules under the UDC and are also subject to nuisance limits in Chapter 22 of the Code of Ordinances.
Code compliance citation; Class C misdemeanor fines up to $500 per day until the RV is moved or use is discontinued.
