Franklin Township, PA Parking Rules: Snow Removal Parking Rules (2026)

Township Code § 15-601 lets the Board of Supervisors, or its designee, declare a "snow emergency" to keep traffic moving and combat snow and ice hazards on the snow emergency routes named in § 15-603. The township announces both the declaration and the end of an emergency through radio, newspaper or other available media. While an emergency is in effect, § 15-602 makes it unlawful to park a motor vehicle, or let one remain parked, anywhere on a designated snow emergency route, and also unlawful to drive on a snow emergency route unless the vehicle is equipped with snow tires or chains.

The specific streets designated as snow emergency routes are listed in the § 15-603 table. Enforcement is set out in § 15-604: parking on a snow emergency route during a declared emergency is a violation carrying a fine of not more than $50 plus costs, and driving on a snow emergency route without snow tires or chains during a declared emergency is a separate violation, also carrying a $50 fine plus costs.
