Summary

In the City of Bend, it is unlawful to park where state law bars stopping, in a spot marked with a painted yellow or red curb, on the landscape strip between the curb and sidewalk, or contrary to any sign or pavement marking. 040, Prohibited Parking, is the City's baseline list of where a vehicle cannot be left on a street, alley, or off-street facility, on top of any signed, metered or district-specific restriction. 550. Subsections (B) through (D) bar parking next to a curb the City has painted yellow or red, parking on or within the landscape strip between the curb and the sidewalk, and parking contrary to any parking control device such as a sign or painted marking. 455(1) in a parking space, alley, landscape strip, street or off-street facility; and subsection (N) bars a vehicle with any protrusion, attached or not, that blocks the sidewalk or a travel lane or extends outside the parking space.

035 separately requires every parked vehicle to have its brakes set, engine off and keys removed, and to be turned toward the curb on a grade. 333.

Violations & Fines

Any violation of Bend Code § 6.20.040's prohibited-parking list is an infraction under § 6.25.040, punishable by a fine set in the City's Fee Resolution; the registered owner is presumed responsible for the citation under § 6.25.035. An enforcement officer may also tow and impound the vehicle under § 6.25.055, particularly where it is a hazard, blocks a fire lane, or has accumulated unpaid fines.
