Bristol, CT Parking Rules: Street Parking Limits (2026)

Bristol Code of Ordinances Sec. 14-29 requires every vehicle parked in a roadway in the City of Bristol, Connecticut to sit parallel with the edge of the road, headed in the direction of lawful traffic movement, with its right-hand wheels within twelve inches of the curb. Sec. 14-30 then lists fourteen specific places where stopping, standing or parking is prohibited outright: on a sidewalk, in front of a public or private driveway, within an intersection, within ten feet of a fire hydrant, on or within twenty-five feet of a crosswalk, within twenty-five feet of an intersection, corner, stop sign or signal, in a designated fire lane, within a bus stop or taxi stand, alongside a street excavation that would obstruct traffic, or anywhere posted no-stopping.

Fire lanes carry their own fifty-dollar penalty under Sec. 14-30(8)(d). For the rest of the article, the fine schedule in Sec. 14-47 and Sec. 14-48 assigns dollar amounts by violation: parking more than twelve inches from the curb or on the wrong side of the street is a twenty-dollar offense under Sec. 14-47(3) and (7), while blocking a driveway, double-parking, or parking in an intersection or crosswalk is a twenty-five-dollar offense under Sec. 14-48. A Bristol police officer documents the violation with a written notice on the vehicle under Sec.

14-40, and the registered owner has seven days to pay the tax collector before the fine doubles, and fourteen days before it triples. Three or more unsatisfied citations on one vehicle exposes it to impoundment or immobilization on any later violation, and anyone contesting a notice may appeal to the city parking authority within five days under Sec. 14-43.
