Tonawanda, NY Parking Rules: Street Parking Limits (2026)

Section 205-18 of the Code of the Town of Tonawanda, amended 3-10-2003 by Local Law No. 2-2003, governs how vehicles must stand on Town streets outside the Village of Kenmore. Subsection A requires any vehicle parked in a marked space to stay within the painted lines. Subsection B addresses streets without curbs: where angle parking is not authorized, a vehicle must stop, stand or park parallel to the roadway edge and headed in the direction of lawful traffic, the town's rule against parking facing the wrong way.

Subsection C bars, for obstructed-vision safety reasons, any vehicle or transport device longer than 21 feet 10 inches (including load and bumper), wider than 7 feet 10 inches, or taller than 7 feet 2 inches from parking on a street within any residential district; the code names boats and jet skis on trailers, recreational campers and vehicle transport trailers as examples. Subsection D separately bans any unattached trailer, regardless of size, from parking on a residential street. Subsection E exempts vehicles parked because of an emergency or a police officer's direction, town-owned and fire/ambulance/utility vehicles, and vehicles actively making deliveries or pickups at adjacent property.

Article III, which contains this section, is enforced under the general Chapter 205 penalty scale in Section 205-5, and Section 205-17 confirms the article does not apply when a stop is necessary to avoid a traffic conflict or follows a police officer's direction or a traffic control device.
