Walworth County, WI Parking Rules: Street Parking Limits (2026)

Sec. 66-136, Parking prohibited in certain places, opens with a general rule: no person may park a motor vehicle on county-owned or leased right-of-way except in designated parking stalls and designated parking areas. It backs that up with a posted-restriction rule, making it unlawful to park on any highway or roadway, or in a designated parking area, wherever parking is prohibited by a posted sign or by yellow curb or roadway markings. Beyond that general standard, the section lists eighteen numbered categories of specific no-parking zones tied to named county trunk highways (CTH A through CTH U) and several state highways, describing each restricted stretch by distance from a named intersection, road, or bridge, with many additionally marked by posted No Parking signs.

Enforcement runs through the Sheriff's Office, which patrols the unincorporated towns, and violations are processed as citations under Chapter 14 of the county code rather than through a separate parking-ticket system. The list has been amended repeatedly, most recently in 2024, as the county adds or removes specific restricted segments by ordinance; a driver checking whether a particular stretch of a county highway is restricted needs to check both the posted signage on site and the current text of Sec. 66-136(1) through (18) for that highway.
