Warrick County, IN Parking Rules: Street Parking Limits (2026)

Warrick County's general parking rules sit in § 70.03 of the traffic chapter and apply on county roads outside the incorporated limits of Boonville, Newburgh, Chandler, Elberfeld, Lynnville and Tennyson. The County Highway Department has authority to place and maintain painted signs or markers on curbs and on avenues, streets or lots to designate parking spaces, and the code is explicit that each vehicle parked along or adjacent to any curb or parking area must park within the lines or marks so established. Parking across a line or marker, or positioning a vehicle so it is not fully inside its designated space, is a violation of the section, as is letting one vehicle occupy more than one parking space at a time under subsection (C).

Subsection (D) separately makes it a violation to disregard any parking sign or marker the Board of Commissioners has put up and posted with notice. The Board of Commissioners, on the recommendation of the County Highway Engineer following an engineering and traffic study, is also the body that decides where parking is prohibited or restricted on specific roads or in certain areas in the first place. Enforcement runs through § 70.99: the Warrick County Sheriff's Office is authorized to enforce traffic and parking violations, and anyone convicted of violating § 70.03 faces a fine of up to $2,500, the same maximum penalty that applies to violations of the traffic-control-device rules in §§ 70.01(C) and 70.02.
