Galloway Township requires all exterior property to be kept clean, safe and sanitary, free of any accumulation of rubbish, garbage or litter. Deteriorated, dilapidated or unmaintained properties are declared public nuisances and blighting conditions subject to Code Enforcement action.
Chapter 267 (Property Maintenance, Ord. 623, adopted 1980) is enforced by the Galloway Township Code Enforcement Office, which addresses grass, weeds, trees, shrubs, trash, debris, building exteriors, vehicle storage and contaminated spills. Section 267-14 requires all exterior property areas to be maintained free of accumulated rubbish, garbage or litter. Vacant structures, premises and land must be kept clean, safe, secure and sanitary so as not to cause a blighting problem or public nuisance. Owners are notified to correct violations; unabated conditions may lead to municipal abatement and prosecution in Municipal Court.
General Chapter 267 penalty: fine up to $2,000, up to 90 days imprisonment and/or up to 90 days community service; each day is a separate offense.
