Title 14 Chapter 20 Section 070 of the Salt Lake City Code makes owners and occupants responsible for removing snow and ice from public sidewalks adjacent to their property within 24 hours after snowfall stops. Sidewalks must be cleared the full width where possible. Piles of snow cannot be pushed into the street or onto fire hydrants, bus stops, ADA ramps, or crosswalks. Violations can be reported to Civil Enforcement and result in warnings followed by civil penalties; the city may also hire contractors to clear persistent violations and bill the owner.
