Antioch, CA Public Conduct: Outdoor Smoking Restrictions (2026)

04(A)(12) of the Antioch Municipal Code prohibits smoking in "all city-owned facilities and any area, public or private, open to the general public for recreational purposes, regardless of any fee or age requirement," and specifically lists parklands, picnic areas, playgrounds, sports fields, walking paths, hiking trails, bike paths, athletic fields, skateboard parks, amusement parks and beaches. 02 makes clear SMOKING covers not just tobacco but "cannabis, or any other weed or plant," plus vaping and e-cigarette use, so the outdoor recreational ban reaches marijuana and vape smoke the same as cigarette smoke.

04(A)(6) and (9). 10: any owner, manager or operator who controls a covered establishment or area is responsible for posting non-smoking signs, and any individual who smokes in a restricted area is committing a violation. Antioch's smoking rules trace back to Ordinance 869-C-S (1993) and were amended twice in 2021-2022 (Ord. 2196-C-S and 2207-C-S) to fold in vaping and e-cigarettes. Nothing in the chapter overrides state cannabis law: possession and use limits under Cal. Health & Safety Code still apply on top of the city's place-based smoking ban.
