Miami-Dade bans smoking and vaping in all county parks and beaches under Chapter 26B, following Florida's 2022 Clean Indoor Air Act amendment that authorized local outdoor restrictions. Cigars are exempt at beaches per state law.
Florida's Clean Indoor Air Act (FL Β§386.204) bans smoking in enclosed workplaces. Effective July 2022, Florida amended the Act to let counties and cities prohibit smoking in public parks and beaches, except for unfiltered cigars. Miami-Dade enacted park and beach smoking bans under Chapter 26B for all county parks including Crandon Park, Matheson Hammock, Haulover, and Zoo Miami. Vaping is included. Signs must be posted at entrances. Cigar smoking remains permitted at beaches due to the state carve-out. Cities like Miami Beach passed similar bans. MDPD and park rangers enforce.
Civil citation up to $100 first offense under Chapter 26B. Repeat or aggravated violations may trigger park trespass and removal under park-rules authority.
