Denver DRMC Β§24-401 (Smoke-Free Workplace) bans smoking and vaping inside all workplaces and within 25 feet of any entrance. Smoking is also banned in city parks, golf courses, pools, and most outdoor patios serving food.
Denver's Smoke-Free Workplace ordinance (DRMC Β§24-401) implements and exceeds the Colorado Clean Indoor Air Act. It bans smoking and vaping in all enclosed workplaces, restaurants, bars, and within 25 feet of any entrance, window, or HVAC intake. Denver Parks and Recreation rules ban tobacco use in all city parks, golf courses, pools, and recreation centers. Outdoor restaurant patios serving food and bus shelters are also smoke-free. Cannabis use in public follows the same rules; no smoking on sidewalks, parks, or 16th Street Mall. Hotels may designate up to 25% of rooms as smoking. Enforcement is complaint-based by Denver Department of Public Health and Environment.
Smoking violations are petty offenses with fines from $200 to $999. Business operators who allow workplace smoking face escalating fines up to $999 per day, and three violations within a year can suspend the business license.
