Glass bottles are restricted in many districts to reduce litter and injuries; cans and plastic cups are standard. Drinking in a motor vehicle remains illegal under Missouri's open-container law (MO §577.017), and city parks require a permit for alcohol service. Mardi Gras and Cardinals home stands trigger temporary expanded entertainment districts with additional public-safety rules.
Drinking in a vehicle, carrying glass in a glass-restricted zone, or consuming alcohol in a park without a permit can trigger fines and seizure of the alcohol.
