Wyoming, MI Public Conduct: Public Marijuana Use (2026)

Sec. 50-188, "Other persons; prohibited acts," sits in Division 2 of Wyoming's marijuana and controlled substance offenses article, rewritten in full by Ordinance No. 20-18 on December 3, 2018 to align local rules with Michigan's Regulation and Taxation of Marihuana Act (MRTMA). Subsection (d) is a single, direct sentence: it is unlawful to consume marijuana in a public place. Subsection (h) extends the ban to vehicles, barring smoking marijuana within the passenger area of a vehicle upon any public way, distinct from subsection (g)'s separate ban on consuming marijuana while operating or controlling a motor vehicle, aircraft, snowmobile, off-road vehicle or motorboat.

Subsection (e) also lets a private property owner, occupier or manager prohibit smoking on their own property, extending enforcement beyond purely public spaces. Under Sec. 27965) assigns; where the MRTMA does not control, violations default to misdemeanor status under Sec. 1-26 of the general Code. The division's exceptions in Sec. 50-189 preserve rights for registered qualifying patients and caregivers under the Michigan Medical Marihuana Act, but those protections do not extend to public consumption itself.
