Dade City, FL Public Conduct: Skateboarding Rules (2026)

Section 94-71 of the Dade City Code of Ordinances makes it unlawful to ride a bicycle, rollerskate, skateboard or roller blade, or to operate any vehicle, cart or scooter, on a sidewalk when that sidewalk falls within the city's designated business area, which section 94-72 defines street by street: stretches of Seventh Street, Meridian Avenue, Sixth Street, Fifth Street, Church Avenue, Pasco Avenue, McMinn Avenue, Live Oak Avenue, Pineapple Avenue and Robinson Avenue, plus the public sidewalks east of the municipal parking lots on Eighth Street.

Three categories are exempt from the ban: wheelchairs and other devices used by the infirm, disabled or nonambulatory; baby strollers, carriages, carts and dollies used for business deliveries; and bicycles ridden by law enforcement officers on official duty. A related provision, section 94-73, separately bars rollerskating on any roadway except at a marked crosswalk or an authorized play street, and bars rollerskating on sidewalks anywhere in the business districts of the city. 00 per violation instead of going to a nonjury trial, giving riders a fixed, known cost for a first infraction rather than an open-ended court proceeding.

Outside the mapped business-area streets, the sidewalk-riding restriction in section 94-71 does not apply, so skateboarding and bicycling on residential sidewalks elsewhere in the city are not reached by this section.
