Macon-Bibb County, GA Public Conduct: Skateboarding Rules (2026)

Sec. 28-21, in Chapter 28's traffic regulations article alongside the county's other roadway-user rules, provides: it is unlawful for any person on roller skates, or riding in or by means of any coaster or similar toy vehicle, except bicycles, to go upon any roadway except while crossing the street on a crosswalk. The code does not use the word "skateboard" anywhere in this section; a skateboard falls under the "coaster or similar toy vehicle" language rather than being separately named, and the ban targets the roadway itself, meaning the travel lanes used by motor vehicles, not sidewalks. Bicycles are explicitly excluded from this category and are addressed elsewhere, including Sec. 28-31's separate rule restricting bicycle riding on sidewalks within the central business district. There is no additional business-district-specific skateboarding restriction elsewhere in the chapter distinct from this roadway ban; the crosswalk-crossing exception is the only carve-out written into Sec. 28-21 itself.
