Miami Beach, FL Public Conduct: Skateboarding Rules (2026)

City Code Sec. 70-67 lists specific zones where skateboarding is prohibited outright, unless an exemption in Sec. 70-68 applies. Skateboarding, along with roller skating and in-line skating, is banned at all times on the Lincoln Road Mall between Washington Avenue and Alton Road. It is also banned at all times on the sidewalks on both sides of Ocean Drive between South Pointe Drive and 15th Street, and anywhere on the Baywalk running from the Collins Canal to the MacArthur Causeway. Separately, subsection (g) makes it unlawful to grind, rail slide, launch, or stall on a skateboard, in-line skates, or roller skates in a way that damages public or private property, a rule that applies citywide regardless of location.

Exemptions under Sec. 70-68 cover police and code compliance patrol units and a person walking a dismounted board or skates, but ordinary recreational skateboarders in the listed zones get no exception. 655, while the property-damage grinding ban is enforced the same way. The prohibitions apply to the listed streets and walkways even if the city later renames them, per subsection (i), so the restriction survives any future rebranding of Ocean Drive, Lincoln Road, or the Baywalk.
