Palm Beach Gardens, FL Public Conduct: Skateboarding Rules (2026)

Section 46-17 sits in Chapter 46, Article I of the Palm Beach Gardens Code of Ordinances, the chapter governing conduct in city parks and recreational facilities, and was adopted by Ord. No. 12, 2011, section 1 (Exhibit A), on October 6, 2011. Subsection (b) groups wheeled and board activity together: roller skating, rollerblading, bicycling, skateboarding and any other similar activity are prohibited outright on basketball courts, tennis courts and parking lots, and the section confines that activity to whichever areas the parks division has specifically designated for it elsewhere in the park system.

The same section separately bars thrown-object games such as stones, arrows or model airplanes outside designated recreation zones under subsection (a), and restricts fireworks use in parks under subsection (c), so the city groups all three as activities incompatible with courts and lots built for other recreational use. Chapter 46 carries no fine schedule of its own, so enforcement of subsection (b) falls back to the Code's general penalty at Sec. 1-18: a fine of not more than $500.00, imprisonment for not more than 60 days, or both, with each day a violation continues charged as a separate offense.

Palm Beach Gardens Police Department officers and Parks and Recreation Division staff patrol the city's park system and can direct a rider off a restricted court or lot, or issue a citation, on the spot. The prohibition applies at every city park facility citywide, so a skater must confirm a specific lot or area is posted for skating before using it rather than assuming any parking lot or court is fair game.
