Frequently Asked Questions

Is skateboarding illegal everywhere in Rancho Cordova?
No. RCMC § 9.38.015 only bans skateboards, roller skates and similar devices on private or public property where the owner has posted a sign prohibiting them at every entrance. Without a posted sign, riding is not a violation of this chapter.
Can Rancho Cordova parks ban skateboarding too?
Yes. RCMC § 9.36.066.5 lets the parks director post signs barring skateboards, roller skates, in-line skates and roller skis within any park facility, separate from the citywide sign-based ban in Chapter 9.38. The signs must give park users adequate notice of exactly which areas are off-limits.
What happens if I skateboard past a posted no-skating sign twice?
The second violation of RCMC § 9.38.015 within one year of the first carries a fine of up to $100.00, and any additional violation within that same year rises to a fine of up to $250.00 under RCMC § 9.38.020.
