Full Breakdown

Shelby's skating ordinance bars skateboards, inline skates, and roller skates from every street and alley in the city, from sidewalks inside any business district at all times, and from sidewalks outside business districts between sunset and sunrise. A companion section separately keeps skaters, skateboarders, and riders of coasters or toy vehicles off any roadway except at a marked crosswalk or intersection, or on streets set aside as play streets. Breaking either rule is charged as a misdemeanor.

Violations & Fines

Skateboarding or skating on a city street or alley, a business-district sidewalk, or a residential sidewalk after dark is a misdemeanor under the city's general penalty provisions.
