Cherry Hill, NJ Public Health Rules: Food Handler Certification (2026)

2, part of Chapter 9's Food Handling Establishments and Vendors article, layers a certification requirement on top of the basic vendor license. Paragraph b requires 'a minimum of one (1) person involved in the day-to-day operations of every retail food establishment' to complete the Food Service Management Training Course run by the Camden County Department of Health, and that person's certificate must be posted next to the Township's food license. The certification is valid for two years and can be renewed through an approved recertification course.

Paragraph c raises the bar for repeat offenders: if a retail food establishment gets two consecutive conditional inspection ratings from the Camden County Department of Health, it must keep two certified food handlers on staff for the following two years, and if no employee held certification when the second conditional rating issued, the establishment has four months to get someone certified. Paragraph d makes certified handlers responsible for training the rest of the staff and for running quarterly self-inspections, documented on State Form F-65 or an equivalent, kept on file for at least two years and available to the Camden County Health Department or the public on request.
