Full Breakdown

Salt Lake County Code § 15.24.280 authorizes the director of health and/or the building official to make inspections necessary to determine compliance with Chapter 15.24 in mobile home parks in the unincorporated area, and to enter private or public property at reasonable times for that purpose. This is a mobile-home-park-specific enforcement tool: the county code does not extend the same standing inspection authority to general single-family or apartment rentals outside licensed mobile home parks.

Violations & Fines

Owners or occupants who refuse the director of health or building official reasonable access for a compliance inspection are in violation; noncompliance found on inspection can lead to notice, a hearing and license suspension or revocation under §§ 15.24.290-.300.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does Salt Lake County proactively inspect all rentals?
No, § 15.24.280 gives the health director and building official standing inspection authority only over licensed mobile home parks, not general rental housing.
Can an inspector enter without notice?
The code lets them enter at reasonable times to check park compliance; refusing access is itself a violation under the same section.
