Full Breakdown

Under Town Code § 153-2, owners, agents and brokers may not allow occupancy of any residential building, apartment building, multiple-residence building, motel, extended-stay residence or bed-and-breakfast unit that isn't the owner's actual residence without a rental permit: it's immaterial whether rent is paid. Listing or showing a unit without a current permit is also a violation. A 7-member Rental Permit Review Board hears Class I/II applications; permits run 2 years and generally require a public hearing.
