030, the owner of a residential rental dwelling unit inside the City of Wausau must register with the Division of Inspection and Zoning on the department's own form, providing a name and phone number the city can use to reach the owner or, if the owner prefers, an agent, plus the rental unit's street address. An email address is optional. Whenever the registered name, phone number, or address changes, the owner has 30 days to update the file so the department always has current contact information.

If the property sells or otherwise changes hands, the new owner has 30 days from the transfer to file fresh registration information. 00 fee applies to the first registration of a unit or a building with multiple units, and again whenever ownership, management, or contact information changes. The ordinance defines a 'residential rental dwelling unit' as any independently rented living space leased for 30 days or more; it excludes rest homes, nursing homes, hospitals, assisted-living centers, community-based residential facilities, and other properties licensed by the Wisconsin Department of Health Services, as well as units owned or run by the City of Wausau or its Community Development Authority.
