Short-term rentals get no noise exemption. Fayetteville City Code Chapter 17 caps residential sound at 60 dB(A) daytime and 55 dB(A) at night, and separately bans unreasonably loud noise from 10:00 p.m. to 7:00 a.m. near any occupied dwelling. Guests and hosts are equally liable.
Under Sec. 17-10, residential sound measured at the property line may not exceed 60 dB(A) from 6 a.m. to 10 p.m. or 55 dB(A) from 10 p.m. to 6 a.m. Sec. 17-11 adds specific bans: radios, TVs and instruments may not create excessive noise across a residential property line between 10:00 p.m. and 7:00 a.m., and the 'Nighttime' rule prohibits unreasonably loud, disturbing noise from 10 p.m. to 7 a.m. within 100 yards of an occupied home. Amplified sound/loudspeakers are barred 10 p.m.-7 a.m. weekdays and 10 p.m.-10 a.m. weekends without a police permit. On unincorporated county land the county's own noise rules apply. Barking-dog complaints fall under animal control.
Noise violations carry a civil penalty set by the city fee schedule, payable within 72 hours; each day is a separate offense and unpaid penalties become a civil debt plus court costs.
