STR use that generates excessive loud sound is a prohibited act. Between 10 p.m. and 8 a.m., noise louder than a conversational level, or music plainly audible from the property line, is a violation. Commercial STRs must install a noise-monitoring device.
The ordinance treats STR noise as a nuisance violation. 'Excessive loud sound' means any noise from or connected to the unit louder than a conversational level, or any music plainly audible from the lot's property line, between 10 p.m. and 8 a.m. Each STR must submit a noise-abatement plan; effective July 1, 2023, commercial STRs must include a noise-monitoring device (non-commercial operators are exempt from that device). The operator must be reachable and resolve neighbor or city noise complaints within one hour. Public drunkenness, litter, lewd conduct, and offensive odors from the STR are separately prohibited.
Each instance of excessive noise or other unreasonable interference is a separate violation, subject to at least a $1,000 fine per offense and possible permit suspension or revocation.
