Mission, Texas regulates parking through the citywide Off-Street Parking Ordinance referenced in its Zoning Ordinance (Appendix A of the Mission Code of Ordinances) and the traffic-and-parking provisions of the Code. As of this update, no separate STR parking standard (e.g., 'one off-street space per bedroom') has been located in the Mission Code. Until a dedicated STR ordinance is adopted, an STR is treated as the underlying residential use - typically a single-family dwelling in an R district - and must keep at least the off-street parking required for that use. Guests parking on the street are subject to the standard Mission traffic regulations: no blocking driveways, hydrants, mail receptacles, or marked no-parking zones. Operators in the Sharyland and Bentsen-area neighborhoods that draw winter Texan and birding visitors (Bentsen-Rio Grande Valley State Park, World Birding Center) should specifically confirm whether their HOA, subdivision, or street has overnight on-street parking limits, since these are common in newer Mission subdivisions and can be enforced separately by the City.
