Quincy passed a zoning ordinance in March 2021 (Β§ 196-14) requiring annual registration for STRs of fewer than 31 days. Registration is managed by the Department of Inspectional Services. STRs are prohibited in Residence A zoning districts.
Under Quincy Code Β§ 196-14, all short-term rental operators must obtain an annual registration from the Department of Inspectional Services (DIS) before commencing operations. Operators must provide their name, unit address, and classify the unit as a limited share, home share, or owner-adjacent unit. A Fire Safety Inspection Certificate must be obtained prior to operating. STRs are prohibited in Residence A zoning districts and in below-market-rate or income-restricted units. The ordinance took effect March 2021.
