Full Breakdown
Under Turlock Municipal Code Section 7-6-103, the owner of a lot adjacent to a sidewalk area must repair defective sidewalks and maintain parking strips, curbs, gutters, curb cuts and driveway approaches in a nondangerous condition, paying all costs including the City's inspection and lien-administration charges. Section 7-6-104 adds that the owner owes a duty to the public to keep the sidewalk safe and is liable for resulting injuries or property damage. If the owner does not act after City notice, the City can perform the repair and assess the cost, including as a lien on the property.
Violations & Fines
Failing to repair a defective sidewalk after City notice lets the City perform the work and bill the owner, with unpaid costs becoming a lien on the property under Sections 7-6-109 through 7-6-111.
