Turlock, CA Parking Rules: Curb Color Rules (2026)

Turlock Municipal Code § 4-7-1202 turns curb paint into an enforceable rule. Each color tells a driver what is allowed at that stretch of curb and when.

Red is the strictest marking. It means no stopping, standing, or parking at anytime. The section leaves only what the Vehicle Code permits, plus a local carve-out: a bus may stop in a red zone that is marked or signed as a bus zone. A red curb without that marking or signage gives a bus no special right to stop.

Yellow is a daytime loading marking. It means no stopping, standing, or parking between 7:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m. of any day, except for the brief loading or unloading of passengers or materials.

White is for quick passenger and mail stops. A driver may stop for no more than 3 minutes to load or unload passengers or to deposit mail. At most white curbs the limit runs during set hours, but at hotels and at mailboxes it applies at all times.

Green is short-term parking. It means no standing or parking for longer than twenty-four (24) minutes at any time between 9:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m. The green limit applies on any day except Sundays and holidays.

Put side by side, the daytime windows differ. Yellow begins at 7:00 a.m. and green begins at 9:00 a.m., while each ends at 6:00 p.m. Red has no clock at all. A driver reading a Turlock curb needs the color together with the time of day to know whether a stop is lawful.

Stopping, standing, or parking in violation of any marked zone is unlawful under the section.
