Moreno Valley, CA Sign Regulations: Garage Sale Signs (2026)

060(A) allows only one sign advertising the garage sale itself, and it must be posted on the premises where the sale is held, must be unlighted, and cannot exceed four square feet. The seller may add up to two additional directional signs of the same size on other private property, but only with the written consent of that property's owner or person in charge. No garage sale sign of any kind, on-site or directional, may be posted in the public right-of-way or attached to anything located there.

If one is, the director of building and safety or the director's designee can remove it immediately and without any notice to the seller, and the city can bill the removal cost back to the person who held the sale. 060(B) adds a strict timing rule: no sign may go up more than five days before the sale lawfully begins, and every sign must come down at or before the close of the last day the sale may legally run. 040 already limits a garage sale to three consecutive days and three sales per year per address, a seller who leaves directional signs posted after the sale ends, or posts them too early, is exposed to both the sign violation and, if repeated often enough, scrutiny under the frequency limits in the same chapter.
