Pageland, SC Sign Regulations: Garage Sale Signs (2026)

Section 10-35 is the sign rule inside Chapter 10's garage sale article. On the seller's own property, only two signs are allowed, each no larger than four square feet. Off the sale property, two more signs are permitted, each capped at two square feet, but only if the sale isn't on a major thoroughfare and the seller has written permission from whoever owns the land the sign sits on. Timing is tight on both ends: Section 10-35(b) bars putting up a sign more than two days before the sale starts, and Section 10-35(c) requires every sign to come down each day at the close of that day's sale activity, or by the end of daylight, whichever happens first, so signs can't linger overnight or after the event ends.

Section 10-34 requires the garage sale permit itself, not just the signs, to be posted on the premises where the town clerk, the chief of police or their designated representative can see it, and Section 10-37 gives a police officer or other designated town official the right to enter any premises showing evidence of a garage sale to inspect for compliance, close the sale down, or arrest anyone violating the article. 00, up to 30 days imprisonment, or both, with each day of an oversized or overdue sign counted as a separate offense.
