New Braunfels, TX Sign Regulations: Holiday Displays (2026)

Under the city's outdoor lighting and glare standards, bare bulbs or strings of lamps are otherwise prohibited, but the code carves out an exception for holidays: special or temporary low-wattage lighting is allowed for a maximum of 45 days per holiday use, and it must come down between holiday periods rather than staying up year-round. A companion section on luminaires also caps string-light wattage generally (strings of bulbs above 75 watts each are barred) while expressly permitting low-wattage temporary holiday and decorative-season lighting. Separately, the sign code exempts holiday lights and decorations with no commercial message from sign permitting, so a seasonal light display itself doesn't need a sign permit, but the 45-day duration cap still applies.
