Florence County, SC Sign Regulations: Political Signs (2026)

Sec. 30-205's temporary sign table lists 'Political*' with a display period of 'Unlimited,' no display-interval restriction ('Not Applicable'), and a maximum size of 32 square feet, the same footprint allowed for real estate signs. The asterisk and condition code 'C/G' route to two of the section's lettered conditions. Condition C, shared with posters and real estate signs, bars placement on telephone or power poles or in the public right-of-way and requires signs to sit at least five feet from a street or curb. Condition G is specific to political signs: 'Political signs shall be removed within seven days after the election.'

That combination means a candidate or supporter can post a 32-square-foot sign on private property well before an election with no time limit on how early it goes up, but the seven-day removal clock under condition G starts running the moment the election occurs, regardless of the outcome. Political signs placed in the public right-of-way itself are not covered by this private-property table and instead fall under the narrower right-of-way exceptions in Sec. 30-204.
